Farmer Anton Berkenheger laid the foundations of the company in 1963 with his development of a new type of mowing system for ditch banks. Berkenheger, who was also chairman of the Meersbach Water and Soil Association in the Haren/Ems area, founded Anton Berkenheger & CO.
