Double finger
Cutter bars with double fingers are used in various agricultural applications. One common use is the harvesting of green fodder, as the clean cut of the knives is an advantage in this area. Double fingers are therefore frequently found in the cutting units of combine harvesters and in hay harvesting. As the double finger is exposed to heavy loads during mowing, high quality and reliability are particularly important in this area. The double fingers from ESM fulfil these high quality requirements. As a traditional manufacturer and developer of innovative mowing technology and as the world market leader in the field of oscillating mowing technology, Ennepetaler Schneid- und Mähtechnik is familiar with the demands placed on a double finger.
The different types of ESM double fingers
The ESM finger bars are equipped with different types of double fingers. Depending on the operating conditions of the mower, the "normal cut" (finger pitch 76.2 mm) or centre cut (finger pitch 50.8 mm) version is selected. There is also a range of mulching fingers, which allow the mower to easily pass through previously cut material. If a double finger needs to be replaced because it is worn or broken, the fastening screws must be loosened and the double finger removed from the cutter bar. This process can be time-consuming depending on the degree of wear of the double finger and the mowing situation. It is therefore important to use a high-quality double finger that maximises replacement intervals and delivers optimum cutting results.
Replacing and removing damaged double fingers
The precautionary measures must always be taken into account. The removal and installation of a new double finger must be carried out with great care. The design of the respective cutting unit must be taken into account. In particular, the assembly instructions for the respective mower drive must be observed. Furthermore, care must be taken to ensure that the maintenance intervals and measures are adhered to. This includes checking the blade guide, the mower blades and the cutter head. The entire cutting unit must always be checked for loose and damaged components. Damaged or broken parts must be replaced.
