Dual Stream Header
The New Holland combine harvester with Dual Stream Header technology, presented for the first time at Agritechnica in 2013, has an innovative and extremely effective cutting concept. While professional grain combines of conventional design have only one main cutting unit to cut the grain, the Dual Stream Header system uses two cutting units arranged one behind the other. This design offers a number of advantages over the conventional combine header design.
Special features of the Dual Stream Header
With the Dual Stream Header, the cutting process takes place in two main steps. Firstly, the upper conventional cutterbar, which is offset forwards, cuts the ear of grain at a variably adjustable height and feeds the crop to the threshing process. A second ESM double-blade cutterbar, which is positioned slightly to the rear and lower down, cuts the remaining straw synchronously to a height of 12 cm. The resulting stalk sections remain in the field. Thanks to this combination of high cut and low cut, the Dual Stream Header System combines the advantages of both harvesting methods. In harvesting technology, the high cut has the well-known advantage that significantly less straw has to be processed in the combine harvester and the harvesting process is much more effective and uses less fuel. In addition, the straw remaining in the field as a result of the dual stream header contains a considerable amount of water, which has a positive effect on grain drying costs.
Efficient mowing with the Dual Stream Header
For the first time in a professional harvesting process, the Dual Stream Header technology enables a combination of both combine harvesting methods - high cut and low cut. The Dual Stream Header concept makes it possible to set the first cut higher, which significantly reduces the load on the combine harvester. Dry crop that is easy to process is fed into the grain tank, while moist straw cuttings remain in the field. Subsequent tillage of the field is unproblematic thanks to the Dual Stream Header. The revolutionary Dual Stream Header technology is made possible by the unique product features of the ESM double knife cutterbars. Smooth, low-vibration operation, low energy consumption and insensitivity to foreign bodies are among the specific product benefits.
