Free-cutting cutter bar
Oscillating mowing technology has many advantages over other mowing methods. Especially in the field of professional mowing, the use of oscillating mowers (with free-cutting cutter bars if required) has become a standard mowing technique for clean forage harvesting. In general, where larger mowing machines cannot be used due to the terrain, hand-guided, motorised mowers (with a free-cutting cutter bar if required) are the best choice. This is often the case in alpine farming, for example.
Free-cutting cutter bars from ESM
The cutting units from Ennepetaler Schneid- und Mähtechnik have been among the world's best in this demanding field of mowing for decades. ESM products are used wherever absolute reliability, flexible application options and a long service life are required. Whether a cutterbar with or without a free-cutting cutterbar is selected depends on the specific requirements. The finger bar cutterbar from ESM has a working width of 1.32 to 1.92 metres. The choice of the right cutting width depends on the size of the mowing area and the soil and terrain conditions. If a cutting unit with a free-cutting cutter bar is selected, the general operating instructions for finger bars as well as the specific operating instructions for free-cutting cutter bars must be observed. In general, ensure that the cutterbar is used as intended. The installation of the free-cutting cutter bar must be matched to the mower drive. The installation instructions of the respective manufacturer of the end product must also be observed! It should also be noted that the maintenance intervals must be adhered to. If the necessary measures for checking, adjusting and cleaning a free-cutting cutter bar are not carried out, this can result in high repair costs and long downtimes. The mower blades on a free-cutting cutter bar must therefore be sharp, correctly adjusted and sharpened.
Maintenance and repair of free-cutting cutter bars
If the knife blades or the back of the knife are bent, they must be straightened, i.e. they must be set straight. Damaged or badly worn mower blades should be replaced. The mower fingers on a free-cutting mower bar must be straight; bent mower fingers must be straightened, otherwise a smooth mowing process can no longer be guaranteed. The cutting height is adjusted using the skids attached to the cutting unit or the outsole attached to the outer shoe. In general, it should be emphasised that cutting units must be handled responsibly and with care.
