Kersten machine factory
Kersten Maschinenfabrik is a manufacturer of agricultural machinery based in Rees in North Rhine-Westphalia. The company celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2018. Kersten Maschinenfabrik attaches great importance to the development of nature- and animal-friendly mowers that also meet the requirements of organic farming.
History of Kersten Maschinenfabrik
The company was founded in 1918 as an agricultural machinery factory by August and Wilhelm Kersten. In 1965, the company began to specialise in the sale and repair of municipal equipment. Since 1986, there has been a significant expansion of the product range in this area. The development and construction of attachments and hand-guided carrier vehicles with equipment for mowing, sweeping, snow clearing, weed and leaf removal were added in the following years. Following the insolvency of Kersten Maschinen GmbH, a new development department with an extensive range of CNC machine tools was set up in Rees in 2014. The takeover of production and sales of double-knife mowing technology from Kunzelmann in Vogtsburg in 2018 meant that double-knife mowing technology became the focus of production. Kersten Maschinenfabrik subsequently built up a Europe-wide sales network for double-knife mower technology, which continues to expand.
Focus on double knife technology
Following the takeover of the renowned Kunzelmann company, ESM cutterbar technology has become a central component of Kersten Maschinenfabrik's products. ESM technology enables the realisation of lightweight yet powerful mowers that meet all the requirements of commercial and ecologically oriented agriculture. The cutter bars from Kersten Maschinenfabrik are therefore suitable for a wide range of applications. The light, flat design allows effective mowing both on slopes and in flat areas.
The strengths of the mowing method are based in particular on the excellent cutting performance of the oscillating blades. Compared to rotating technologies, the mowers from Kersten Maschinenfabrik deliver a significantly improved cutting pattern. This allows effective protection of the meadow flora and fauna and improved forage quality to be achieved at the same time. With the BiduxX from ESM, a cutting unit of the latest generation is used in Kersten Maschinenfabrik products. Thanks to the further development of the proven Bidux technology, the new system can achieve an even higher area output. The regrindability of the knives has also been technically improved. The service life and sharpness have been extended and optimised thanks to new grinding processes.
