Landscape conservation
Landscape conservation is a complex and demanding area that encompasses a wide range of work and measures. The aim of landscape conservation is to create and maintain near-natural landscapes and the sustainable utilisation of natural assets. Landscape management is a measure in the field of nature conservation and environmental protection that has set itself the task of shaping the landscape in such a way that people, animals and plants benefit equally from it.
Landscape management measures
Which landscape management measures are taken in each case depends on the geographical location and its specific characteristics. A landscape that is rarely visited by people will generally receive significantly less maintenance than a landscape area close to a city that is frequently used for recreation and leisure. The wide range of work carried out as part of landscape maintenance also includes the use of mowers and cutters. Mowing work is necessary in landscape conservation wherever plant growth would take place in a form that is unfavourable to nature itself or to humans without human intervention. The background to this necessary mowing work is that almost all landscapes existing today have already been created by human intervention and design. The flora found there is therefore generally not in an original equilibrium, but has the characteristics of a cultivated landscape. Accordingly, it is sometimes necessary to intervene here to maintain the biological balance. As part of landscape maintenance, mowing work is often required, which is carried out using both motorised mowers and trailed mowers.
Landscape maintenance with cutterbars from ESM
ESM cutterbars are ideally suited for maintenance and mowing work in landscape conservation. Oscillating mowing technology, as manufactured by ESM for decades, has a number of advantages over other mowing methods for this area of application. The low energy requirement of ESM cutting units is fundamentally environmentally friendly. In addition, ESM mowers have other features that are conducive to natural and gentle mowing in landscape conservation. These include the extremely quiet and low-vibration running of the ESM mowers and their design-related protection of small creatures.
