The cutterbars from ESM are designed to make it easier for the user to change the blades and remove the blade holders. If the blade holders are to be adjusted as part of the general care and maintenance of a cutter bar, this must be carried out in accordance with the assembly instructions. The type of blade holder installed depends on the design of the mower.

Measures before removing the blade holders

Before removing or readjusting the blade holders, it is necessary to clean the cutting unit to remove dirt and plant fibres. After removing the blade holders and the mower blade, any dirt that has accumulated between the blades and the bar must also be removed. Cleaning should be carried out after every mowing if possible, as only clean components allow the cutting blades to run optimally. If the blade holder or another component of a cutter bar is inserted without the element having been cleaned beforehand, the cutting result may deteriorate and the service life may be reduced until the next maintenance. As with all work on a cutterbar, great care and attention must be taken when removing the blade holder! In addition to removing and cleaning the cutting unit, the guide clearance must be adjusted regularly. At what intervals and in what way this must be done depends on the type of mower and the blade holders fitted. The blade holders can be fastened with single or multiple clamping screws. Other types of blade holder attachment are hinged guides or the swing-up rocker arm.
