Rapeseed cutter

Professional harvesting technology uses special rapeseed cutters from ESM to harvest rapeseed. The design of these mowers is precisely adapted to the requirements that rapeseed harvesting places on the machines used and their components. One of the special features of rapeseed harvesting is that rapeseed plants cannot be harvested efficiently with mowers that only have horizontally aligned cutting units.

Specific requirements for rapeseed cutters

The reasons for this lie in the specific growth form of the rapeseed plants in the field. The rape plants grow close together, forming a dense carpet that cannot be mowed through efficiently when harvesting with a mower that only works horizontally. Without a special rapeseed cutter, the ripe rapeseed plants would clog the cutting unit and the entire mechanical system of the mower during this mowing process. In addition to the strain on the combine harvester, the rapeseed plant would also be affected by such a harvesting process without lateral rapeseed cutters. The actual harvest product, the sensitive oilseed in the pods, would fall out with this harvesting method. Such so-called shaking losses should be minimised as far as possible during rapeseed harvesting, as this significantly reduces the yield of the harvesting process. For this reason, ESM rapeseed cutters are used for professional and efficient rapeseed harvesting.
