Rapeseed cutters

Special ESM rapeseed mowers are used in rapeseed cutting units for harvesting rapeseed, which differ in their technical design from professional mowers and cutting units used for hay, vegetable or grain harvesting. In addition to a horizontal mower, rapeseed cutters also have special rapeseed cutting units mounted vertically on both sides of the cutting table.

What characterises high-quality rapeseed cutterbars

These rapeseed cutterbars have a particularly lightweight design that allows them to be driven with little power. This energy-saving design is advantageous, as these vertical cutting units on rapeseed tables are usually driven electrically. The special design of the rapeseed cutting units is generally necessary, as the growth of the rapeseed plants ready for harvesting differs significantly from the growth of a cereal field or other stalk crops. While plants whose stalks regularly grow vertically upwards can be easily mowed or harvested with horizontally aligned cutterbars, other methods are required for harvesting rapeseed. Rapeseed plants intertwine strongly as they grow and form the typical dense structure of a rapeseed field. Such a rapeseed field ready for harvesting cannot be threshed efficiently with a conventional cutterbar. Rapeseed tables therefore also have vertically aligned rapeseed cutting units on both sides to gently cut through the rapeseed plants and form an alley for the actual harvesting process. For this reason, rapeseed cutting units are also commonly referred to as rapeseed separators.
