Flail knife
Ennepetaler Schneid- und Mähtechnik has been involved in the development and production of various mowing technologies for decades. Rotating mowing technology with flail blades is a good complement to oscillating cutting units. ESM provides its customers with comprehensive advice on which mowing system should be used for the respective mowing tasks.
Finding the right flail blade
If the purchase of a flail mower or flail mulcher is indicated, the question arises as to which type of flail blade and which type of flail mower should be used. Flail blades and mowers are available in many different sizes and shapes and have correspondingly different mowing characteristics. The system of rotating flail blades basically entails a special design of the flail mower: to prevent stones or other foreign objects from being thrown up by the rapid rotation of the blade shaft, flail mowers are surrounded by a thick-walled flail mower housing. When choosing a flail mower, it is important to ensure that the flail blades are made by a reputable manufacturer. In ESM's production, flail blades are used in a Y-shape or as pendulum-mounted special blades of the VERTI-2-FLAIL design. Both flail systems are characterised by patented cutting systems that can also be used in difficult work situations. ESM flail blades are equipped with multi-stage cutting systems that are extremely robust. Y-shaped flail blades are equipped with a two-stage cutting edge for clean cutting results. If a blade change is necessary, this can be carried out quickly and easily with a Y-shaped flail blade from ESM.
Areas of application for mowers with flail blades
Flail blades with vertical rotation, such as the VERTI-2-FLAIL from ESM, can be used in the toughest conditions. Flail blades are therefore the preferred blade type when areas are rarely mowed and maintained. Mowing, shredding and mulching with a flail mower with ESM flail blades is also possible without any problems in areas where dense vegetation prevents mowing with other mowers. The flail blades cut through undergrowth and smaller trees and can also be used on heterogeneously overgrown embankments and slopes. Work in vineyards and forests can also be made much easier by using a flail mower.
