Vertical flails

Vertical flailing with the patented VERTI-2-FLAIL cutting unit from ESM opens up new possibilities for professional extensive maintenance. The cutting system for vertical flailing, which has been further developed and improved several times, is based on a unique design with a vertically rotating blade carrier at the ends of which specially shaped flail blades are attached.

While classic flail mowers are equipped with a cutterhead fitted with flails, the ESM VERTI-2-FLAIL principle for vertical flailing is based on a technology that rotates horizontally to the mowing surface with special blades mounted on pendulum bearings. This design has clear advantages over other flail mowing systems in very demanding mowing situations. Mowers for vertical flailing, such as those developed by Ennepetaler Schneid- und Mähtechnik, are characterised by their extremely robust and reliable mowing behaviour. They are the preferred choice for mulching and fine mowing in extensive land management. Vertical flailing with ESM VERTI-2-FLAIL has proven its worth in these areas of application, as mowers of other designs are often overtaxed by the heterogeneous vegetation in these areas. Special applications on roadside verges or public green spaces, for example, require a mower that is capable of cutting and shredding shrubs, bushes and smaller trees in equal measure. Vertical flailing with the VERTI-2-FLAIL system is the right choice here, as the advantages of vertical flailing are clearly visible. The powerful and robust flail-shaped blades effortlessly cut logs up to 50 mm in diameter and at the same time deliver a very clean cut.
